Raid has been around for while now and still packs a powerful punch to your 6 – legged friends. Which is why I will be discussing it in this post today. We will go over a few things about the brand that you didn’t know. I will also give you the most effective way to use it.
Raid Ant And Roach Killer
Raid has been around since 1956 and is owned by S.C. Johnson & Son. Based in the united state’s raid has been a household name for many years and the go to bug spray for most. It does its job and shouldn’t be overlooked when it comes to dealing with an ant or roach issue.
Raid has been known to kill the following bugs listed below.
- American Cockroach
- German Cockroach
- Brown-Banded Cockroach
- Oriental Cockroach
- Bald-faced Hornet
- Indianmeal Moth
- Blue Bottle Fly Stable Fly
- House Fly
- Carpenter Ant
- Paper Wasp
That is a whole army of bugs. Raid is a nightmare for all of them. But be sure to know what you are using it for. Don’t buy ant and roach killer for a Hornet’s nest. For one it won’t spray far enough. This will require you to get really close to even make contact.
Once you spray it won’t get the majority of the Hornets and you will be too close to run. You will then be stung multiple times and maybe even hospitalized after the fact. So get the appropriate type of raid for each ordeal.
The slogan raid “kills bugs dead” has been in effect since 1966. It became a popular slogan for the brand and is still used today. It was a part of an advertising campaign and it was a hit. So they just kept it.
Each version of raid has different ingredients for the specifics bugs it targeted to kill. Just because it’s for ants doesn’t mean it won’t kill a fly. It may not be as effective.
For example, salt can kill us. But it won’t kill us like it would a snail. Same with certain kinds of raid on bugs it’s not really for. It can and may even get the job done. But it’s not going to work as good as it would for that particular bug. Our focus today is going to be on ant and roach killer.
When Is It Ideal To Buy Ant And Roach Killer
If you see the bugs on the outside of your house in the field or under some junk you have laying around in the back yard. You don’t necessarily have to get alarmed and go buy tons of bug killer. If they are outside they are in their natural habitat.
That’s where they belong. If you have children and they play in the yard often. You might not want little Timmy or Mandy playing in a fire ant mound. That can be very bad. If that’s your case then do what you have to do. Do what is safe for you and your family. I would do it if I were allergic to them as well. Better safe than sorry any day.
Roaches don’t really build mounds or stay in large quantities such as ants. You may see them in a group of 6 after you lift a bucket you had sitting in an area outside for 6 months. But they aren’t trying to be seen and they don’t want to bother you. They can and will make your life a living hell if they get into your home though.
You should buy raid once you know for a fact that you have a bug issue in your home or a place you are often. If you see a line of ants in your kitchen window buy raid and get rid of what’s attracting them.
You won’t necessarily see a line of roaches. They are more lone wolves and stay separate for the most part. They are quick and do react to light. So if you have some on your kitchen counter when the lights are off. Once you flick that switch on they will run in various directions. They also do the same when you get close to them and they sense you.
How To Use Raid Ant And Roach Killer Spray
For ants, all you want to do is hit the line. Wherever you see the line spray it thoroughly and the area where they are going. It’s going to be a source of food more than likely. Be sure to get rid of that also.
Follow the line inside and out. If you can trace them back to their ant pile that will be even better. You will then need to find a stick or something to poke a nice big hole in the top or multiple small ones.
Take your can of spray and unload half the can if not the entire thing into the pile. Your ant troubles from that pile should soon cease after you are done.
Roaches are an entirely different ball game. Depending on how big your situation is. Raid spray might not be enough. If you have a larger roach issue and they seem to have your place infested. You may want to invest in a bug bomb or seek pest patrol.
If your problem isn’t on that level and you have a few roaches. Then you can use Raid and it will do the trick usually. What you will want to do for roaches is make the area as clean as possible. They love junk and love food. If you have both in an area. You are inventing roaches and they will soon come if you don’t handle it.
Remember roaches don’t like to be seen. If you have an open clean area. Roaches aren’t going to stick around and just wait on you to see them and kill them. They would rather go to your neighbors where they know its junky and safe.
Cleaning the area isn’t the main part though. It’s vital but isn’t the main source for why your roach problem exists. It’s food if you have food laying around and crumbs all over the floor. No matter how much you clean the area. The roaches are going to stay.
Because you are feeding them. You are also helping them reproduce. Which is why you will see one or two roaches one week and a thousand the next. Yes, they can and will produce that fast. Clean your place thoroughly. Make sure there is no food open on your counter or laying around anywhere else.
Make sure you vacuum and sweep your floors to perfection. Give the roaches no reason to stay. They will get the memo and will go elsewhere eventually. After you have cleaned and made sure your area is spacey and neat. You now come in with the bang.
Spray everything be sure to get every crease and crack you can find. Be especially sure to get inside your cabinets and in your kitchen area. Have your food put up though and dishware along with spoons forks etc. You don’t want to put the poison that raid is created with in your system. If the smell bothers you wear a mask and gloves can be used also.
After you have done this if you don’t see any roaches in about a week your mission is complete. But if you see them still after that week time frame. It’s time to up the ante. I suggest either a bug bomb or professional help.
